First, the bad news: Next year’s Playing by Ear (Book 5, Jamie + Perry novel) will wrap up the Glasgow Lads series. Since 2014, creating and sharing the lads’ stories with you wonderful readers has brought me immeasurable joy. Twelve years is the longest I’ve done anything other than be married and parent a pet! 😆

Now, the good news: To say farewell to our lovely Scotsmen (and to make the coming year slightly less shite), I’m inviting you to join me in celebrating the Year of the Lads! Beginning August 2025, each month will focus on one book in the series, with a couple of short story/novel pairings to accommodate the holidays.

There’ll be posts here on the blog and in the Rainbow Regiment Facebook group each week delving deeper into the books, not to mention giveaways of swag, paperbacks, and more.

***If anyone would be interested in a series reread, let me know in the comments and I’ll set up a signup form for those who’d like to lead or co-lead a discussion of a particular book.***

The Year of the Lads kicks off with Book 0.5, Play On (Duncan & Brodie novella), which is still available to borrow through Kindle Unlimited as part of the Men in Shorts anthology through Tuesday, August 12. If you’re a KU subscriber, it would probably be ideal to borrow Men in Shorts and hang on to it so you can read all the novellas and short stories as they come up through the year.

I’m so excited to celebrate the Lads with you! 😍
